We can say that Talarn was one of the most important towns in the Pyrenees. In the 11th century, the castle and the church of Sant Martí were built. In 1453, Queen Maria declared Talarn the capital of the sub-delegation and later the capital of the District. These events led to the settlement of the nobility in the town, and it was then that all its splendor began. The construction of the second wall with defensive towers, the two access gates, and the noble houses with coats of arms. Today, the entire old town still preserves this medieval structure.
Within this route, one element to visit is a restored cellar owned by the municipality. In this cellar, there are brochures from different wineries in the region and some objects provided by the town’s residents. There is also wine provided by some winery for those who want to taste it. This entire project is carried out to showcase the importance of vineyards and wineries in the Conca, to promote the town, the wineries in the region, and ultimately to boost tourism.
The Wine Fair, which takes place in June, aims to promote the wine products of the El Pallars Jussà and Alt Pirineu regions. In addition to the stands of these wineries, tastings and visits to active wineries are also carried out.
